Tonight is one of those nights. I’m tired, I’ve been at work all day, I didn’t sleep well last night, the wind is howling, I have to be up early tomorrow, I have a headache. Just a sample platter of the vast array of excuses I have to not work out. It’s on nights like tonight that I have to remind myself of the reasons why I’m on this quest for weight loss and improved fitness. There are a lot of them: health benefits, confidence boosting, to improve my own mental health…but occasionally (ok maybe more than occasionally), it’s that big old superficial one that gets those running shoes on my feet and out the door. I JUST WANNA LOOK SEXY DAMN IT!
And to honour my absolute shallow mindedness, I thought I’d share a few of the pictures that are getting my motivation levels up on this blustery Tuesday evening:
I think what I love about each of these women is that they look strong. Their bodies the result of months of starvation and self torture. To me, they look like the bodies of women who care about their nutrition and fitness and work hard. Granted, without their cash money, personal trainers and chefs, the chances of me and my rusty old metabolism achieving these results are slim (excuse the pun), but it doesn’t hurt to have an aesthetic to work towards!
Right. I’d better get those running shoes on then.
